As you might know Cisco has announced End-of-Sale for MARS product. Cisco Security Agent, Web Application Firewall, now MARS... What else? I understand it's still a crisis time Cisco and some fat should be eliminated, but that seems more raw flesh than fat.
The irony is that recently I integrated Kaspersky Antivirus with Cisco MARS and was hoping to get some commercial value from that. It took me some time to figure out how to develop a custom parser for Kaspersky AdmintKit, but actually I was pleased by the result. |

Hey,
I'm still in a cisco world, what a wonder. My way was out of cisco's orbit for a while (IT security stuff, you know) but now I'm back on track and doing well. I changed my job a couple of month ago and you know what? It is such a pleasure to do a work that you know, you love and you are best in.
I've bumped into the IP telephony. It's almost a completely new area for me with all it shiny, ringing glory and gloomy reputation.

During last month I've heard some rumors that Cisco Security Agent is going to be dropped and end-of-sale is going to be announced in a near future. Personally I was expecting things like that because the CSA's development pace is rather slow. And I'm saying that in a polite way :). They even don't get CSA compatible with 64-bit platforms during last several years. Some sources says there will be a new great product that will replace CSA in an year or two. Anyway I've tried to find out the truth and I have some non-official statements to declare :)

Cisco launched a new marketing project which is called CISCO SYSTEMS CORPORATE TIMELINE. A lot of facts about Cisco's technological, business and marketing leadership. Quite interesting especially about 80's and early 90's years. Sometimes I miss those ages
By the way the Okena company which is CSA's original mother was acquisited in 2003. That was almost 6 years ago and it seems to me that CSA functionality and interface wasn't changed very much so far. Yes I know about all the new features but sometimes I think that Cisco could have done more. CSA could be more flexible, more sexier. I have some thoughts and suggestions but... time is short. And how on earth I could contact BU? |

Cisco has got a Press Release posted at News@Cisco about large-scale CSA implementation project that was deployed by my team in 2008. It took about one year to test, deploy and tune 15,000 agents.
Congratulations to all NS team members and customer's tech-guys! You are GREAT!
P.S. Part of this press release was written by me ;-). |
